Meet Dean Williams: BW Fusion’s New CEO
For nearly four decades, Dean Williams has built a career in agriculture by leading businesses, building teams and establishing relationships.
Now, he’s bringing that experience to BW Fusion as our new chief executive officer.
Dean joins BW Fusion at an important time for both our company and agriculture. Growers are facing tighter margins and greater scrutiny on every input decision, while biological solutions and data-driven precision agronomy are creating new opportunities to get more from every acre.
For Dean, that opportunity hits close to home.
From the farm to agricultural leadership
Dean grew up on a Louisiana farm raising cotton and soybeans and, later, corn. He went on to spend much of his career in the synthetic fertilizer industry, eventually leading agricultural businesses ranging from startups to multi-billion-dollar operations.
That combination of firsthand farm experience and decades spent in the industry helped shape how he thinks about the opportunity in front of agriculture today.
“I grew up on a farm, and I spent most of my career selling synthetic fertilizer. The more we learned about what was actually happening in the soil, the clearer it got: putting out more product isn’t always the answer if the plant can’t use what’s already there. Farmers needed a different way of doing this to be profitable, and that’s exactly what pulled me toward BW Fusion. With our biological products and the Agronomy 365 platform, we’re helping growers lower their input costs and protect their margins, no matter what commodity prices are doing,” Dean said.
It’s also what made BW Fusion an exciting next step.
“This industry is growing, and BW Fusion is positioned to grow right alongside it. What excites me most is where we're headed: helping farmers be better stewards of their land and make more confident fertility decisions,” said Dean. “We’ve already got strong products, strong people and an agronomic team that’s second to none, and I’m excited to build on that, bringing more dealers and customers into the fold and putting the right people and processes in place to expand.”
Building on what already works
Dean isn't coming to BW Fusion to start over. His focus is on building from the strengths already here: rigorous research and data, biological innovation, Agronomy 365, a strong agronomic team and deep relationships in the field.
As CEO, he will help BW Fusion expand its reach with growers, dealers, retailers, distributors and seed companies while putting the processes and structure in place to support that growth.
Jason Schley, BW Fusion’s Chief Growth and Agronomy Officer, who previously served as interim CEO, sees that approach as one of Dean’s greatest strengths.
“Dean is a natural leader,” said Jason. “He brings structure and real experience, along with a genuine excitement for what’s ahead. He understands this market, and he understands the value we bring to it. What means the most to me is that he wants to build on what we already have: the research, the data, the products and the people behind it all. He knows that’s how we earn trust in the field, and he’s ready to build on it.”
Relationships first
Dean’s leadership philosophy starts with the team and people.
“Relationships are what this industry runs on, and that’s been true everywhere I’ve worked," said Dean. "Farmers buy from people they trust, and you earn that trust by showing up, knowing their operation, and giving them good advice year after year. Growing up and working alongside farmers like ours has shaped my entire career and taught me to put relationships first, and real results will naturally follow.”
That mindset fits naturally with BW Fusion’s approach: understand what's happening in the field, use data to make better decisions and give growers solutions designed to improve overall performance rather than simply adding more inputs.
Ready for what’s next
Outside of work, Dean remains connected to the outdoors. He enjoys hiking, snow skiing, hunting and playing tennis, and stays actively involved in his local community.
But agriculture has been a throughline from his childhood on a Louisiana farm through nearly four decades in the industry. Now, he sees an opportunity to apply those experiences to BW Fusion's next chapter.
For Dean, that means growing without losing sight of the fundamentals: strong agronomy, better information, proven products, empowered people and relationships built on trust.
And for BW Fusion, it means building on what works and bringing it to more growers.
